Over the years, many people have called or even written in to tell us what they thought of our products and services. Most notes have been gratifying in their praise. A few have had complaints that we promptly fixed. We appreciate them all – we can’t improve ourselves without knowing what you think.
We have hundreds of the original letters in our store: the good, the bad, and the ugly. You can read them all, if you wish. To protect the privacy of our customers, we have deleted some of their personal information here. The “People Are Talking” books in the store will give you a bit more information. If you want even more, we will contact the actual customer for their permission to talk to you directly.

I can’t say enough nice things about Seasonal’s pool parts and chemical departments. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and are more than willing to take the time to figure out the cause of a problem. I’m a first-time pool owner and my pool had significant issues. I was forced to repair every piece of the system, including all of the piping. Patrick came out to my house and gave me a run down of things that would need to be fixed immediately and the things that could wait. When I went into the store after fixing one problem which showed that there was a problem with a different piece of hardware, Mia, Stephanie, and Patrick were exceptional at helping rebuild the system and diagnose the other problems, both in person and over the phone. They genuinely cared about helping me fix the problem as if they had a vested interest themselves. The guys in the lab who helped get the water clear were equally great. I think it was Josh and Michael, who were friendly, easy-going, and very approachable in repeatedly testing my water samples to help me get it right. Even the problems that were less common (pool water turning purple) didn’t phase them. To the owners: you’re definitely getting the customer service part of owning a business right. You have some of the best, most helpful and caring employees any customer would want to work with and they deserve all of the accolades I can give. The rewards program is another big perk of Seasonal. The more you wind up spending at Seasonal, the more you receive in a rebate at the end of the year. It’s a great system designed to keep customers, but with the incredible customer service and top-of-the-line products, why would you go anywhere else anyways? I just wanted to tell you how wonderful your employee Patrick is! I work retail and I know just how it can be. In fact, you almost always hear the complaints and not the good things. For this reason, I have decided to take a minute to tell you how great he is.
After fighting with my pool since last week to clear up cloudiness and an error in the initial water balance test at your store, Patrick personally asisted me on both Thursday and Friday night over the phone to help solve the issue. By today, the water has cleared and it appears we are corrected and good to go. He suggested I bring in a water sample today, which I did. I waited to speak to him personally and even though he had a long line of people waiting for him (for good reason) and he was extremely busy, he had a smile on his face and did not rush anyone. I really felt like a valued customer and he more than made up for the initial error.
This is our fourth season with our pool that we bought from you and even though I travel 40 minutes each way to patronize your store, I will continue to do so just because of the customer service levels you have with your employees, and especially with Patrick. To the Management of Seasonal Specialty Stores,
I would like to make you aware of the outstanding service I received from the parts & repair department recently. I brought my spa pump in for repair of the impeller seal and found that I had a very unique part with no real manufacturer’s identification. Patrick and Mia tried for over an hour to match up the seal to the parts in inventory. Running out of options, Patrick called his distributor and ordered me a new wet end to be delivered the next day after checking their inventory.
On Friday I received a call from Tod saying the distributor had made a mistake regarding their inventory and that it would take 8 to 10 weeks to get a new wet end. I vocalized my displeasure as I wanted this operating for Easter weekend. Tod told me he would try to help me out if anything should change.
A couple of hours later Tod called to say he had found parts from a variety of seals that he was able to seat in my hosing. I picked up my pump which was fully assembled, paid a very reasonable price for the work, installed the pump, and was using my spa two hours later with “no leaking anywhere”.
Saturday evening my girlfriend and I had a very enjoyable soak in the refurbished spa with a glass or two of wine, and my guests on Easter all tried out the spa.
I truly believe I received extraordinary service and I am only too happy to share this with you.

This has to be one of the best customer service companies in the world. How do you create such a place? How do you develop the crew? The pool sample crew, pump rebuild crew, and chemical school crew are all excellent. You direct me to a great solution, never any sales pressure, and am always comfortable looking around. I leave wondering how do they screen and develop the help!
We’re a small school and our pool has been clean and steady using Seasonal for two years. Best I have seen. Anyone says I have a pool problem – I say go to Seasonal Specialty Stores.
I was given an old 60,000 gallon inground pool which was green and very run down. In plain sight of Director’s window, I showed up and took a sample, and three days later was crystal clear. I can say Seasonal Specialty Stores makes me look good, and that old pool look good.

I have rarely had such a positive experience at a retail store! It’s very difficult to spend thousands on a “non-essential” item but your store and people made it comfortable for me. I spent a lot of time with Kristine and Mia, and they were both exceptional. Close to an hour with each of them. Very knowledgeable, patient, friendly. No hard sells. Just nice. And they really knew the product. I was on the phone twice with Patrick and had the same experience. Totally patient and knowledgeable. When I thought about switching to a different top lifter, he said that my tub was already wrapped up with the lifter but that it was no problem to change as it was important that I got exactly I needed (ending up not changing). Also very helpful when I called about water questions.
Truly a very postive experience. So much so that I meant to write you, but this card was easier. Enjoying the hot tub very much. Very nice machine!

Everyone we dealt with was friendly, informative, and non-pressuring. We took a lot of time shopping for our pool. Honestly, our first visit was to benchmark Seasonal against the “discount” stores. Mia was patient, informative, and she did not pressure us at all. She encouraged us to shop around. When we came back to buy the pool, we tried to make sure that she was there. She walked us through everything, including all the finance options. We never enjoyed spending $5,000 so much!

Your sales staff was always available for help or questions, but didn’t “get in your face” as soon as you entered the store. I will definitely drive the 2 hours to do business with you (it’s four hours round trip!).
Allison was very helpful, and went above and beyond to replace bolts I had lost after bringing home my new chairs. She also provided helpful info. that influenced my purchase. She’s a “keeper”.
Your staff works well together. When I had a question, it was always answered – whether by Allison or another rep. who was closer at hand at the time. Really polished folks. The warehouse men did an excellent job “breaking down” my new adirondack chairs so they would fit into my Subaru. They also put large pieces of cardboard in to prevent scratches, very thoughtful.
The comfort and durability of my new Telescope adirondack sling chairs far surpassed my expections.

Dear Dennis and Jeanne,
I am writing to you regarding the staff at your pool store. Your organization is not just a store. It is a place where you can go to receive excellent customer service from knowledgeable customer service representatives. Every time I have gone to your store in the past 15 years, each one of your employees has always been so very accommodating and I have never had a negative experience. This summer has been a difficult one for me with the maintenance of our pool. After opening the pool I encountered the problem of sand spitting into the pool and had to call a pool service to find out why this was occurring. Unfortunately, the service I called sent out technicians who were not very knowledgeable and I absolutely did not get the service I felt I deserved with the $90.00 service call.
However, when I went to your store, your sales persons were all so very friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and most of all helpful. When I walked into your store your staff had to deal with a woman who was experiencing an extremely stressful Friday afternoon and embarrassingly, I was in tears. The pool service had emptied the sand from my filter and told me I needed new fingers for the sand pipe and perhaps a new sand pipe. And if I could not order these parts from Namco, I could get a new tank. They would help me install a new tank if it tied into their afternoon schedule. They then left my green pool and unassembled filter to go to their next service call. I would also like to add they never followed up with a phone call the next Monday (7/23) as they said they would.
I can only imagine how uncomfortable it was for your staff to deal with a woman crying over a pool. Your staff was sympathetic to my situation. It is often hard for me not to cry when I am faced with some situations as I am a widow with four children. Two of my children are grown, but I still have the boys to raise. My husband was an amazing man who took care of so many household issues, one being the pool. I am still perfecting the art of not being overwhelmed. So, when I go somewhere for help I am expecting to be educated about how to solve my problem, especially when I am paying for a service. At your store I received excellent service from knowledgeable employees. The fingers I needed were in stock and I was able to order extra ones to change out the old ones at the end of the season.
I also had Patrick look over the sand pipe and I must also tell you that Patrick is a very valuable asset to your store. When I showed Patrick the sand pipe and asked if I should order this part as well, he looked it over and saw it was not cracked, and still in good condition. However, after inspecting the pipe to make sure it was in good operating order he discovered there was a part missing from the bottom of the sand pipe. It was a riser that enables the sand pipe to properly connect to the pipe at the bottom of the multiport valve. He not only showed me how the sand pipe should look with all of its parts in a catalog, he also attempted to glue a riser on the bottom of the sand pipe as I did not know if we had the part still at home.
For the rest of the night I called your store at least five more times with questions. Patrick answered the phone politely and patiently answered each and every one of my questions. I am sure by the end of the night he was tired of my calls and silly questions, and if he was I would have never known.
Thank you to all of your staff for their excellent service and for making my life a bit easier. I have been in the store several times since then and unless absolutely necessary, will only go to your store from now on. It is worth the drive to go to your store and worth the customer service I receive.

I knew the status of parts ordered, estimated delivery to store, and given flexible times to schedule installation at my home. Everyone I worked with was polite and responded quickly to my questions. A big plus is scheduling a time of day. In today’s world where repair people arrive “between 8 and 2”, it was refreshing to be able to schedule an appointment that would not impact my job. I received today your comment card. I was surprised and pleased as I have on several occasions begun drafting a letter of comment.
As I sat down to fill in the card, it became quite clear that it wasn’t big enough. I have shopped the store since the mid eighties, purchasing all my dart and billiard supplies. Recently when I was raving about the store to my family, my mother informed me that she bought patio furniture there years ago, and my sister buys all her pool and hot tub supplies there as well. So it isn’t an isolated incident!
I purchased a hot tub there in 1999.Patrick made the sale, he was very personable and had knowledge of the product and at no time chased the sale. He and Joe delivered it without incident despite cold and snow. After about two and a half years I had a problem with the pump/motor which was under warranty. Joe couldn’t have been more pleasant, quick to respond and explained what had happened in a way that was matter of fact and understandable. I was enjoying the tub again in no time at all.
This past summer the pump/motor quit again. I stopped in to see Patrick, I was a little overwhelmed to have a problem again, and my demeanor was apparent. He impressed me with his cool, calm manner and had Joe come out to help me. Again, the pleasant calm manner in which each of them helped me had me laughing by the time I left. Joe fixed the problem and followed up with calls to make sure everything was running properly.
When I was in the market for a pool table, I didn’t have to think twice where to go! Again, I went right to Joe and Patrick because they have never disappointed me! I purchased the table, a nice heavy cover for good measure and bought a new set of darts on my way out!
In this fast paced, get ‘em in get ‘em out climate of retail and lack of customer service, I have to applaud Seasonal. Whatever you are doing to keep these standards it is working. When customers are as pleased and respected as I have felt, it is a WIN WIN situation. I appreciate every little kindness, it goes a long, long way. I even decided to pay for the postage myself by writing this letter (smile).

I just wanted to let you know how our first season with our new pool went.
We originally shopped at another pool store before purchasing our pool at Seasonal Specialty last spring. At the other store we encountered pushy salespeople who would not give us brochures and price lists on their entire pool line. Every time we went back to their store, the price changed. We overheard one salesman telling his customer that they didn’t want a particular pool because it was not good quality, yet our salesman was telling us that the very same pool was the best quality they had. It was very confusing and we felt like we were at a car lot, being pressured into buying a new car.
At your store the difference was like night and day. Your salespeople were extremely courteous and knowledgeable. We were given a beautiful color brochure that contained all the pools you sold and their prices. Everything was there in black and white. There were no hidden charges. We knew up front how much it would cost us to get into the pool we wanted.
We are so happy we listened to your advice and chose Baquacil as our chemical treatment. Our pool water was crystal clear all season long. Our neighbors commented on how sparkling clean our pool was compared to others. And it was so easy to use! Initially, I had a hard time talking my husband into the purchase of a pool because he thought it would be too much work. At the end of the summer, his comment was, “This was the best investment we ever made!”
Your installer had our pool up in just a few hours, even though he got caught in the middle of a rainstorm. He was professional and thorough. Your salespeople have gone out of their way each and every time I had a question or concern. I have recommended Seasonal Specialty to every person who has complimented us on our beautiful pool, and believe me, there have been many, many compliments!

The pool table that we purchased has been great. The whole family enjoys gathering around the pool table and spending quality time playing pool. My five year old daughter is quite the “Pool Shark”. I have yet to beat her, except for when she let’s me win. This was definitely a good purchase which the whole family and friends enjoy.
I can’t tell you enough how wonderful your store and employees are. Everyone is very willing and happy to help me (even with the stupid stuff). I use all Baquacil products and love them. When I have a question, I can just call your store and get a truthful answer.
In the beginning when I was looking for a pool, I was stupid and went to another store, figuring I would get excellent customer service, knowledge, etc. We did purchase a pool and whole set from them. BIG MISTAKE! Long story shortened, after months of headaches, phone calls and run arounds, we told them to come get their pool and we wanted our money back. We were very sour on pools at that point and decided not to get one. Then, months later, we went into your store – just looking around and wound up buying a pool. Your sales staff was nice to work with and very accommodating (we’ve even referred people to you). We love our pool, products and help of everyone at Seasonals. Thank you for still being concerned about us and our pool. We live in a small town called West Milan, NH, about 10 miles north of Berlin. We have a swimming pool and supplies store in Berlin and also one in Gorham, NH, about 9 miles and 15 miles away. Oddly enough, last May we took a 150 mile ride to Merrimack to visit you folks and purchase a pool from Seasonals. You were referred to us by my uncle in Nashua, NH, who also bought a pool from you. We are glad that we went the extra miles to save money and find friendlier people.
I would like to give a special thanks to Chris. When I spoke with him over the phone, he did not know me, or if I was calling just for a joke. All he knew was that we were traveling 150 miles and gave him an estimated time of arrival on Saturday morning. He took the time to go to the store extra early to have all the supplies, hardware and everything else we needed ready to be loaded when we arrived. Thanks again, Chris, you saved us over one hour on our journey.
The pool was in full operation about three weeks later. We enjoyed it well and we will be returning to visit for a season’s supply of chemicals. Again, we could travel only 9 or 15 miles, but we prefer to deal with you people. The date today is April 12 and the pool is still frozen. The little bit of water we started to see froze overnight again. It was only 18 degrees this morning. I hope by the middle of June we can swim.
We are considering purchasing a pool table. When we visit you in a month or two, maybe you could give us information on them. We traveled to buy a swimming pool, we are not afraid to travel to buy a pool table.

Although we did not buy a pool from Seasonal we use the store for all our chemical supplies and other odds and ends. We love the service we get when we have our pool water analyzed – and best of all – it’s free! We use a new type of chlorine (in a self-contained pack) and besides our pool dealer, you guys are the only ones who carry this product – and you are cheaper than our pool dealer – even after he offers us his “discount”.

Your listing of pool companies ready to install our pool brought us Dan Parker. Dan and his team did a wonderful job installing the new pool. They were professional and got the pool up and on the way quickly.
When it came time to close the pool, we had a few questions regarding the new filter and chemicals which were answered by Tod and others along the way. Tod has been our “go to guy” for many years and always feel that we are in good hands with him.
Over all, Seasonal has been, and always shall be, our pool store. Thank you for many years of service.

I just want to say “Bravo!” I love this idea and what a brilliant way to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
This will be our third season with our above ground pool. We have enjoyed it, even with our typical New England weather. I have spoken highly about Seasonal to anyone who asks about our experience. I tell them that the quality is top of the line. I also tell them that the staff there is friendly, knowledgeable, and seem to really care abut my concerns as a new pool owner.
To answer your questions, yes, you have done your job. Very well. The products are great and the team unbeatable. They handled every crisis no matter how big or small, with speed, accuracy, patience and a smile. I was also made to feel that I was welcome back and that they were just a phone call away because it is a forty minute drive for me.
To sum this up, I am very satisfied with all that Seasonal has to offer. Yes, I do tell everyone who is considering a pool for their family that Seasonal is the only place to go, (I did the shopping around). You have friendly, knowledgeable staff and I think the best quality in product and service. Kudos to you.

We had our new pool table installed in Jackson, New Hampshire. We’ve enjoyed it tremendously ever since. It gets heavy use during holiday seasons – and has worked perfectly under the circumstances.
We’ve since moved from Hollis to the Boston area, though the table remains with us in Jackson. If we’re up in your neighborhood, we’ll stop by to stock up on supplies.
